The platform has over 7000 games in various categories going from action to puzzle and sports. [1]The brothers Raf and Tomas Mertens founded CrazyGames in 2014. The website targets players between 10 and 18 years old and has about 10 million visitors each month.[2] This makes it one of the ten biggest browser game platforms in the world. The platform has translations in Dutch, Spanish, Indonesian and English. However, the focus is on the English speaking market.[3][4] In American schools, CrazyGames.com is on the list of most blocked websites along Cool Math Games, Typing.com, Facebook and Netflix.[5] On the platform, game developers can publish HTML5-games that often make use of the technology WebGL. HistoryThe brothers Raf and Tomas Mertens founded CrazyGames in 2014 as a hobby project. Tomas Mertens left the company in 2015 to concentrate on other projects. In 2017 the company became a member of the incubator start it @KBC.[6] The traffic on the website grew steeply and reached 5 million unique users by the end of that year.[7] In October 2018 a prototype of a developer portal was launched. With this, the company wanted to create a developer community and offer an initial public for the games of independent developers. By using the platform, developers can upload their games directly to CrazyGames.[8] In November 2018 CrazyGames was nominated as one of the ten rising stars by Deloitte Belgium. The rising star competition is a part of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50-competition, a selection of the 50 fastest growing and innovative technology companies.
