Crystal World and Prehistoric Journeys is owned by Geologist and Botanist Tom Kapitany.[3]

Philanthropy

Crystal World regularly supports the Australian Animal Rescue charity[4] through the use of donation oriented activities, such as photo opportunities with Crystal World's life-size dinosaur display[5] and granting visitors the chance to hold a rare piece of the Chelyabinsk Meteorite.[6]

Crystal World has also engaged the local community through Christmas festivities at Crystal World with voluntary donations going towards Australian Animal Rescue.[7]

Disputes

In January 2017, Crystal World & Prehistoric Journeys applied for a certificate of compliance to the Casey Council in a bid to extend their warehouse, gallery and showroom. The application was subsequently refused by Casey Council over disputes that the business was purportedly operating illegally on a Green Wedge zone.

Tom Kapitany, the owner of Crystal World, had later applied for a decision review at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, which ruled against the business owner. VCAT member Picha Djohan argued that the business had not provided sufficient evidence for operating continuously for longer than the '15-year-rule', stating "A business registration document of itself cannot prove the nature of the business being conducted ... Or that a business is occurring at all.[8]
