Over the most recent two decades, India has seen changes in several spheres, at fast pace. The Centre is equipping itself to confront the difficulties postured by the nation due to these progressions, economic changes, policies of liberalization, globalization, and privatization, which have brought about changes in perspectives, policies, and practices relating to technology, development, and the interrelationship between the two, through research extends and new scholastic and preparing programs [3]. CTARA has a M.Tech. program in Technology and Development (began in 2007) and a Ph.D. program. CTARA likewise offers Technology and Development Supervised Learning (TDSL) courses to B.Tech. across the Institute. The course work at CTARA gives a overview of development issues, resource analysis, rural needs assessment, technological interventions and impacts, and has a field segment to it[4]. CTARA's teaching and research aims for giving pertinent answers for the rural regions. Keeping in mind the end goal for doing this successfully, CTARA has created linkages with NGOs, government departments and ministries, and industry[4]. Prof. Satish B. Agnihotri is a retired IAS officer of Orissa Cadre from the 1980 batch and now heading, Center for Technology Alternative for Rural Areas (CTARA) and Center for Policy Studies (CPS). He has been working closely on topics like, Child malnutrition, Renewable Energy and Energy Policy, Gender, Rural development and technology scale-up, Use of Mapping Techniques in Social Sector Planning and Public Policy.
