HistoryIn 2008 after having trained and wrestled with the APW promotion, Red Eagle opened a new wrestling school in Lisbon (originally located in the Venda Nova neighbourhood). The school originally not intended to be a wrestling promotion was named Centro de Treinos de Wrestling portuguese for Wrestling Training Center. After being the de-facto training facility for APW in Lisbon (the company operated another school in the Algarve region of Portugal around that time as well), as well as independently hosting several seminars with international talent such as Rockstar Spud or Holland's Kenzo Richards, the company moved to Ajuda in 2013 and started to focus on promoting their own events. On June 15th, 2013 CTW as a school held three wrestling matches as part of the Mais Sorrisos association's Luta Pela Solidariedade charity event. One of those matches included the presence of future WWE NXT wrestler and Cruiserweight Classic participant Ho Ho Lun. [2] Their first official show as a promotion was held on August 24, 2014 and was titled Teste de Fogo.[3] International agreementsCTW established their first international partnerships with both Mad Dog Maxx's PWL and Darren Saviour's Pro Wresling Pride promotions, both based in the UK. This led to several joint-shows during the year 2015 and beyond. Although Pride is now defunct, the alliance with PWL still stands as of 2019. [4] CTW has also hosted joint-shows in 2015 with both UK's Extreme American Wrestling and Spain's Revolution Championship Wrestling. The latter including both Paul London and Nikki Cross on their card. [5]. In the summer of 2018 CTW announced a new partnership with Japan's HEAT-UP promotion. This led to portuguese wrestlers travelling to Tokyo in the later part of the year to compete on japanese shows and also led to Kazuhiro Tamura coming to Portugal to be a part of the year's final show: Incidente Internacional. CTW PrimetimeCTW Primetime is a weekly show featured on CTW's Youtube channel [6] It features promos, video-recaps of shows and clips from older matches available on the Independent Wrestling TV (Formerly Powerbomb TV) platform. Even though it comes out every week, there is no official air-day for the show. However, in 2019 producer Fábio Queia said the plan is for a release every Tuesday and/or Thursday on show weeks. [7]In March 2018 with Episode 9, CTW introduced "CTW Spotlight" a series within the series of CTW Primetime. Each episode will have a documentary format and will follow a CTW wrestler the day before a big match. The first episode followed then-CTW Champion Leo Rossi before his match against now NXT UK star Flash Morgan Webster.[8] In September 2018, a special episode called CTW Primetime LIVE! was released and featured matches taped at Praça Paiva Couceiro in the Penha de França parish of Lisbon. It was live streamed on Youtube[9] ChampionshipsFrom its inception until 2017, CTW didn't recognize any champion. All the titles defended on their shows came from foreign companies (T2W, PWL, APC France). In October and November of 2017, the Mario Milheiro Tournament was created to crown the first ever CTW Champion.[10] In April of 2018, CTW and UK's Pro Wrestling Live promotion worked together to create a universally recognized European Championship. The championship belt was designed to look like an old school belt from the 50s and 60s, displaying the words "Luta Livre" (the old-timed term used for pro-wrestling in portuguese) instead of the now more common use of the english word. [11] The championship's name remains "unbranded" to symbolize that it does not belong to any single wrestling promotion.
