Biography[edit]

Wirth earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Spanish from the University of Evansville. She is a former member of Chi Omega. She earned a Graduate Certificate in Underwater Resource Management from IU's Office of Underwater Science and her Master of Arts in Anthropology from Indiana University in 2009.[5]

Wirth began her career in 1992, helping her husband launch a family business, Montage Furniture & Design, in Columbus, Indiana and later expanding the business to include a back care specialty and mattress store, The Comfortable Back Store, in Edinburgh, Indiana.[6]

In 2003, Wirth developed and implemented a Marine Ecology Teacher Field School in Bonaire, Netherland Antilles for US based teachers for continuing education credit through Indiana University.[7]

After closing the furniture store following the June 2008 Central Indiana Flood[8], Wirth began teaching high school and finished the [https://education.indiana.edu/programs/transition-to-teaching/index.html Secondary Transition to Teach (ST2T)] program with an Indiana Teaching License in Life Science and Spanish Language and Culture.[9]

Wirth taught Spanish Language and Culture at Columbus Signature Academy- New Tech Campus (CSA-NT) January 2009- June 2009, was a pre-service Teacher while enrolled in Indiana University ST2T at CSA-NT August 2009- December 2009 and finished her pre-service year at Columbus East High School January 2010-June 2010. She was a CSA-NT Guest Facilitator August 2010 - June 2011, and was a full-time Biology and Environmental Science Facilitator August 2011- August 2018.[10]

August 2018, Wirth took a leave of absence from CSA-NT as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow, serving as a Legislative Fellow on Capitol Hill.
