Cynthia Wylie is an American children's book author and entrepreneur, currently serving as the founder and C.E.O. of children's healthy-living brand, Bloomers Island, and the writer of the Bloomers Island book series, published by Rodale Kids, an imprint of Random House Children's Books. Wylie has over 25 years experience in business starting in investment banking, as a controller, chief financial officer, and a co-founder/partner of two successful companies. She is on the board of Bloomers Schoolyard, a non-profit organization that helps address our nation's ongoing challenge with childhood obesity. Early Life and EducationWylie grew up on a farm in Western Pennsylvania and received her B.S. in Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology from Pennsylvania State University. The year after graduation, she was awarded a graduate teaching and research fellowship in the department of economics at Georgetown University where she received her M.A. in economics.[1] CareerAfter graduating from Georgetown and holding a couple jobs in finance, she co-founded the company Maui Toys. In June 1990, Entrepreneur Magazine named her and her co-founder, Entrepreneur of the Year for the state of Ohio. She sold her shares in the company in 1993. In 1991, Wylie became a partner in the street wear clothing company, X-Large. In 2008, Cynthia and her partners sold X-Large to their Japanese distributor, B's International. A year later she decided to go back to her roots and started Bloomers Edutainment.[2][3] She published her first book in her "Bloomer's Island" book series, entitled "Bloomer's Island:The Great Garden Party", in January 2018. The following two books were released that following April, and two more were released in May 2018.
