I'm removing those parts from the draft now until they can be sourced properly.

For both that kind of statement and whenever you attribute something to a specific person, in this case his former team manager's statement, you need to give inline references. You can read more about that at MINREF.

The other reason you'll need to look for sources is to show that he's notable for Wikipedia purposes. That means showing that he's been covered significantly in reliable second-party sources like news sites.
