The Dance Studies Association (DSA) is an international organization of dance scholars, educators, and artists that "that aims to strengthen the visibility and increase the reach of dance as embodied practice, creative endeavor and intellectual discipline." [1] The organization supports dance research, including of the history of dance, dance critique, and dance education.[2] DSA was founded in 2017 through a merger of the Congress on Research in Dance (CORD, founded 1969) and the Society of Dance History Scholars (SDHS, founded 1978),[3], both of which played an important role in the development of dance scholarship in the mid twentieth century.[4] The inaugural conference, Transmissions and Traces: Rendering Dance, was hosted by the Department of Dance at Ohio State University.[5] DSA is a member of the American Council of Learned Societies.[6] DSA holds [https://dancestudiesassociation.org/conferences annual conferences], sponsors [https://dancestudiesassociation.org/awards awards], and oversees a number of [https://dancestudiesassociation.org/publications publications].
