Daniel Hill Born: February 26, 1974 Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia Australian Sub-4 Minute Miler Daniel Hill, spent his formative years in the Outback of Australia and competed in Track and Field from an early age. He came to prominence winning a silver medal at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships as a 16 year old and was selected to the Australian Junior Athletics squad that same year. He won a bronze medal at the next Oceania Games in Auckland, New Zealand (1500m, 1994). After graduating from Deakin University in Melbourne, Daniel attended Georgia State University on a Track and Field scholarship from 1996-1998. He broke the 4-minute mile for the first time on July 4, 1998 in Brunswick, Maine (3:58:57).[1] Hill suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm in 2000, requiring an emergency craniotomy which ended his competitive running career.
