David Ponce de Leon (Born October 20, 1972) is an American film and television Director, Writer, Producer and Actor . A native of Los Angeles and a graduate of the UCLA school of Theatre, Film and Television, he wrote and directed the indie film “Road to Juarez”, starring [https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001235/?ref_=tt_cl_t1 William Forsythe] and Latin film star Adal Ramones, which premiered at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and played several film festivals around the world, including the Oaxaca, Puebla and Pantalla de Cristal film festivals.[1] The indie was picked up by MonteCristo International and sold at Cannes to indie distributor Mousetrap films.[2][3] Road sustained a 4-week theatrical run in Los Angeles, Texas and Arizona (playing to packed houses at 15 theaters, including Universal City Walk and AMC Burbank).[4] David began his career in broadcast television in 1995 as a field producer for “Placas” (The Spanish language “Cops” counterpart & highest rated Telemundo show at the time). He then wrote and directed a reality series entitled “LatiNights” the prototype for LatiNation and “American Latino Tv” on CBS. David also wrote and developed multiple original series for Sitv starring B-Real from Cypress Hill and Warren G. In 2002 David partnered with famed producer Doug Schwartz and “Life’s A Beach Entertainment” (BAYWATCH). In 2005 David got a geenlight from Sitv on a series he created called “Machete Rising”, in conjunction with Universal Music and NBC-Universal.[5] [5]David's previous short film effort, “Single Black Female” ("A Substitute For Love") was an official selection at several film festivals including The Silverlake Film Festival and The Pan African Film Festival. The short also aired nationally on the B.E.T. "Lens on Talent" television series as a semi-finalist. His previous short film “The Cage” played the San Antonio Cine Festival as well as the closing night of the Los Angeles International Latino Film Festival.
