See Markup for how to mark section headings. Section headings are delimited by equal signs (=), which are used to construct the table of contents of a page. Please edit this draft as specified before resubmitting. Do not put headings in bold face. This draft is written from the viewpoint of the company, focusing on what the company says about itself. Corporate notability is based on what independent reliable sources have written about the company. Articles other than list articles should not consist primarily of very long lists. See Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. The list of awards is too long. The History paragraph consists largely of marketing buzzspeak. The company was founded by James Fox in January 2006.[1][2] It specializes in film and television production, visual effects and post-production, commercial production, and has recently ventured into video game conceptualization and development. HistoryDawnrunner Inc. was founded by James Fox, with contributing members Geoff Peck, Christie Call, Darrell Gabonia, and Eliot Honda. The group met during their time at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California and subsequently joined forces under the Dawnrunner banner[citation needed]. The name Dawnrunner was based on a moniker Fox acquired as a high school athlete, “the guy who runs at dawn.”[citation needed] Fox founded Dawnrunner with the mission to produce projects that influence positive change in the world. Through the use of multiple disciplines and mediums, they seek to encourage empathy through impactful and emotive stories[citation needed]. Along with this mission statement, the company adheres to three guiding philosophies:
Relationship with the Tech IndustryFollowing Dawnrunner’s formation, the team began working with their first major client, the Game Developers Conference (GDC). This first job evolved into an ongoing partnership with Dawnrunner producing mainstage motion graphics as well as event coverage for GDC. The company was able to show off its affinity for innovation at the 2011 GDC, when the day before the conference major changes were requested for the graphics package. In a feature story with Nvidia, Fox and Peck elaborated on their employment of the Nvidia GRID to meet deadlines and provide live previews of graphics and fonts to their GDC client.[3] Dawnrunner also developed a relationship with computer technology company, Dell. In 2011 Apple Inc. announced that it would be replacing the current interface of its video editing software Final Cut Pro, with a new interface. The change was met with mixed reviews[4] and led to some users, like Dawnrunner to consider other options. In a blog post from Dell, Fox explained his company’s transition from Apple to Dell products through experience with the Dell T5500 workstation.[5] Dawnrunner’s transition to Dell from Apple was further discussed in a 2016 article from CNET, with Fox elaborating that, “We need nimble machines that are as powerful as they can be…”[6] Community Outreach ProjectsIn addition to motion graphics and commercial work, Dawnrunner has participated in fostering community and offering education of the different aspects of production. In 2008 Dawnrunner began a partnership with Starting Arts, a San Francisco Bay Area-based company offering hands-on after school and summer camp art programs.[7] Dawnrunner managed a summer camp where kids from grades 5 through 12 were given the opportunity to make professional films. The camp ran from 2008, starting with the short film Singularity[8] and ending with the production of the feature film Terra.[9][10] In more recent years, Dawnrunner has run workshops to continue sharing knowledge of the filmmaking process. One such recent example took place at The University of Hawaii in 2015[11] during the production of an upcoming TV show Dorkcore.[12] Recent NewsIn 2016, Dawnrunner received acclaim for Dorkcore, receiving an official selection from the FilmQuest Festival.[13] The company has also received several accolades for a science fiction TV show in-development called SOL. In January 2019, SOL’s pilot script was announced as one of the top fifteen scripts of 2018 by the Fantasy/Sci-fi Film and Writing Festival.[14] Dawnrunner also announced that they have taken steps to move their operations into state-of-the-art production facilities constructed in Coarsegold California[citation needed].
