Dawood Ahmed Sofi a.k.a Abu Ubaidah al-Kashmiri was the top leaders of ISJK, an affiliate of Islamic State (IS) group in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Dawood Ahmed Sofi, popularly known as Burhan Musaib was a kashmiri militant who was firstly affiliated to Pakistani backed Kashmir group, Tehreekul Mujahideen. He was a resident of HMT area of Srinagar. He had joined militant ranks recently. After working for Tehreekul Mujahideen for few months, he along with his associates were displeased by the Pro-Pakistan militant outfit as they had differences with their ideology. Dawood Ahmed Sofi found no militant group in Kashmir suitable for spreading his ideology. Mostly all militant groups in Kashmir favoured merger of Jammu & Kashmir with Pakistan, but Dawood & his associates had a different aim. They wanted to establish Islamic Sharia State in Jammu & Kashmir. Dawood addressed a massive gathering at Kareemabad, Pulwama in May, 2017 where he asked people to stop waiving Pakistani flags and instead, waive black flags similar to the flag of Islamic State (IS). Later he & his associates fled from the area after hearing gunshots in the air before escaping. Later at the end of the year 2017, they pledged allegiance to Islamic State and Dawood Ahmed Sofi became the chief of the newly announced outfit. He was killed by Indian security forces at Srigufwara, Anantnag on 22 June, 2018 along with his three associates namely Majid Dar, Ashraf Itoo & Adil. His killing was termed as a major success for Indian Security Forces as he was believed to be the brain of the Islamic State offshoot in Kashmir [ISJK]. He was third most dreaded militant of ISJK after Eisa Fazili & Mugees Mir. It is said that after his killing the outfit has been successfully eliminated from Jammu & Kashmir.
