Debug Teddy Bear arose in Haifa,Israel in 2018 after it was noticed that 90% of software debugs were resolved after the person who sought help described to their peer the problem out loud. All the peer needed to do was nod their head and periodically say uh-huh and eventually the person with the problem resolved the issue themselves with no further input. Realizing that the act of describing the problem out loud resolved most issues and it was wasting the time of the peer engineer it was decided to have the engineer with the problem to describe the issue to Debug Teddy Bear. If the problem still didn't resolve itself then it was escalated to a human engineer. Debug Teddy Bear is similar in function to Rubber Duck Debugging[1] which was created independently in the United States.
