Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens football, 1910-19

The Delaware football[1] team represented Delaware College (now the University of Delaware) in college football competition. Playing their home games in Newark and Wilmington, Delaware, the football program started in 1889. The football program established a permanent home stadium with the construction of Frazer Field in 1913. Delaware was coached by William McAvoy from 1910 to 1916, Stan Baumgartner in 1917, Lt. Milton Aronowitz in 1918, and Howard Shipley in 1919. The five head coaches compiled a 28−36−12 record from 1910−1919. McAvoy recorded a combined 23−24−9 record from 1910 to 1916, finishing his first tenure as head coach with a 27−34−11 record in nine seasons. Baumgartner had an 2−5 record in his single year as coach, Aronowitz posted an 1−2−2 record in his one season, and Shipley tallied a 2−5−1 record in his first season as head coach. Shipley went on to have a 5−10−2 record as Delaware head coach in two total seasons.
