Rogers was previously President and chief executive officer of Sears Canada.[1]. Rogers was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. He graduated with a engineering degree in. Working for petroleum companies in Australia and Japan following graduation. Rogers added to his pedigree with an MBA from Yale University, before starting his career at Booze Allen & Hamilton as a management consultant. Early Life and Education[edit]Rogers completed an undergraduate engineering degree from The School of Mines (Western Australian Institute of Technology) in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia after attending Hale School in Wembley Downs, Perth. During his career, Rogers worked in Japan for three years, China and the U.K.. Rogers is an engineer and completed his graduate studies at Yale University. Rogers is currently (2018) completing a research degree from Oxford University focusing on the retail business industry, which he is due to complete in 2019. Business Career[edit]Prior to retail, Dene was a management consultant with Booz.Allen & Hamilton and after this SVP of International Business acquisition at GE where he worked in close proximity with business tycoon Jack Welch. Following his tenure at GE, Rogers took a role as senior vice president at Starwood Hotels and Resorts where the Westin brand was refreshed and the W Hotels brand was launched. Rogers has over a decade of successful retail experience in the USA, Canada and Australia. He was a key leader in the turnaround at Kmart in the U.S. during the 2003 to 2006 period when it came out of bankruptcy and earnings increased by more than $1 billion and Kmart acquired Sears. Between 2006 and 2011, Rogers was CEO of Sears Canada. A period which saw the companies earnings growth double digit, and debt was paid down by more than 90%. Additionally, share holders received dividends equal to 35% of the stock value[2]. Rogers has held executive positions at some of the largest companies in the world, from GE during the dot com bubble, Starwood hotels and resorts RadioShack, Kmart America, Target Australia. Rogers returned to his country of birth to take up a position as managing director of Target Australia in 2012 after taking Sears Canada to the top position as biggest online retailer in North America[3]. The stint in Australia with Target only lasted on 18 months before he handed in his resignation, citing indifference of vision. Rogers took over as CEO of RadioShack in 2016 after it filed for bankruptcy and was bought by General Wireless an affiliate of New York hedge fund Standard General[4][5] Rogers currently holds a position as COO of Gymboree Group. Personal Life[edit]Rogers is an avid cyclist who has competed in World Championship competitions, and charity rides through Canada and Australia. Rogers has mingled with world leaders such as George W Bush, Bill Clinton, John Howard in his business dealings. A man who has focused on giving back throughout his life, an attitude which was instilled from an early age, growing up in a Christian family from country WA. Son of decorated WWII veteran and Order of Australia medallist Ross Rogers. Rogers has three children, one based in Australia and two based in Connecticut, USA. Philanthropy[edit]Rogers has always had one eye on improving the social standing of the less fortunate.
