History

The beginning of Dhwani could be traced back to 1999 wherein it was merely a side show to the CETEX exhibition celebrating 60 years of CET. However the idea for a College cultural festival was conceived when a group of students representing the college attended Mood Indigo, cultural festival of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2000. There in efforts were put forward to realise an annual festival for one of the most prestigious institution in Southern India.

A core committee consisting of Ajay Prasad, General Secretary, Student’s Union 2001, Arun Kunjunny, Balakrishnan M., N.P. Brahmaprakash, Jobin George Mathew, and Aparna Menon battled against all odds such as sponsorship and other factors. The team went through several hardships such as Rs 250 per sponsorship amd so on. As a dress rehearsal CET’s first film festival was held called ffCET . Therein things started building momentum with the team splitting up to tackle sponsorship, event design and even logistics. Countless such hurdles later the team put forward the very first Dhwani night with informals, satellite broadcasting and even a pro-nite by the famous Balabhaskar. The Alumini Association also stepped up to help realise the goal of every CETian and the very first Dhwani 1.0 was born on February 2001.

Since then, Dhwani has evolved into a movement in itself.
