The Dialogue Institute (DI) is a non-profit organization associated with the Journal of Ecumenical Studies. It was founded by Leonard Swidler and his wife Arlene Swidler in 1978. The organization has continued to grow and is now internationally recognized. The DI now hosts various programs and trainings. HistoryThe Journal of Ecumenical Studies was founded in 1964 by Leonard and Arlene Swidler as the first peer reviewed academic journal with its focus mainly on ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue. The journal grew to focus on the discussion between all major religious groups. In 1978 the founders decided to expand their vision to form the Institute for Interreligious, Intercultural Dialogue.
