She was also raised in the area of Alhambra and El Monte. She graduated form the university of Berkeley and received her B.A. She also attended Cornell University and graduate with her M.A/ Ph.D in English. While attending both of these universities she focused on comparative race ethnicity studies, postcolonial theory, and women of color feminism. During her years of attending these universities she was able to host several conferences around community colleges and universities to inform students who are interested in majoring in WGSS how interesting and important this topic is. She has caused such an impact at Cal Sate Los Angeles University. She was one out of the many women who joined this university as a faculty member of the Chicano Studies during the years of 2002-2007. She was a founding director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies during the years of 2004-2017 as well as she was the past director of the center for the study of genders and sexuality during the years of 2004-2008. Dionne Espinoza is also know as as and author/editor of three very well know books called “Chicana Movidafs: New Narratives Of activism and Feminism in the Movement Era”[2], “Enriqueta Vazquez and the Chicano Movement: Writings from el Grito del Norte[3]” and “Chicanos, Latinos, and Cultural Diversity: An anthology”.[4] Early Life, Education and Early Career——————————————————————————————————————- Dr. Dionne Espinoza[1] is a women who was born and raised in the city of San Gabriel Valley. She was one out of the many who was able to make change at the California State University of Los Angeles by being able to be a founding director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies during the year of 2004-2017. Career——————————————————————————————————————— Dionne Espinoza is currently working as a professor at Cal State University of California[1] and is teaching Women’s Gender and Sexuality studies and Liberal Studies. Her current position at cal state la is Director, Center for the Study of Genders and Sexualities Professor, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. One out of the many things that’s she is currently working on is creating a department for the women’s gender and sexuality.
