History

Domino Data Lab was founded in 2013 by Bridgewater Associates alumni Nick Elprin, Matthew Granade, and Chris Yang.[2] It received several rounds of funding including $3 million from Zetta Venture Partners, Bloomberg Beta, and In-Q-Tel in 2013, then $10.5 million led by Sequoia Capital in 2016[3], then $27 million in 2017 led by one of its hedge fund customers, Coatue Management[4], and finally $40 million in 2018 from previous investors[5].

In 2017 the company received AWS Machine Learning Competency status from Amazon Web Services.[6] That same year the company was named a Visionary by Gartner in its Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms[7] and included in The Forrester Wave for Predictive Analytics And Machine Learning Solutions[8]

Products and Services

Domino Data Lab provides a platform called Domino Data Science Platform which is a central hub for data science work and model management.[9] It allows data scientists to develop and deploy data science models and collaborate on those projects.[10][11][12] The software works on premises and as a cloud service.[9] Its users include Allstate, Clorox, Coatue Management, DBRS, Instacart, Moody's, and Tesla.[13]
