DTV was a television series that aired on The Disney Channel, which began airing on May 5, 1984 as filler in between other programs. Advertised as "music videos for the whole family," DTV featured clips from classic Disney animated shorts and features set to recordings of popular songs, its title being derived from the music-oriented cable channel MTV. The series was also basis for home video compilations, three network TV specials, and a sequel series, DTV 2, in 1989. The series was produced by Braverman Productions, Inc., with music clearances by The Clearing House, Ltd. SpecialsThree DTV-themed holiday specials aired on NBC in 1986 and 1987.
