Eduardo Fernández (1981, Madrid) is a Spanish pianist. BiographyAwarded the Spanish National Radio Culture Prize Premio Ojo Crítico 2016[1], Eduardo Fernández is one of the best pianists of his generation, distinguishing himself in particular through the depth, maturity and singularity of his interpretations. Eduardo Fernández has been invited to play in Russia, China, México, Argentina, Chile, Panamá, Ukraine, Moldova, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Estonia, Romania, Norway, India... with great success in important concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, St. Petersburg Philharmonia, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Beijing National Centre for the Performing Arts, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Mumbai National Centre, Kiev Philharmonia, Palau of Barcelona, Palau de Valencia, Palau Euskalduna de Bilbao, Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla, Teatro de la Zarzuela, Teatro Real or Auditorio Nacional de Música, as well as prestigious international festivals, being especially noteworthy the Granada Festival, Ciclo Scherzo, Musika-Música in Bilbao and Piano aux Jacobins in Toulouse. His recent performance of Prokofiev’s Second Concerto at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid has been strongly acclaimed by critics with headlines such as “The triumph of the piano” and “Eduardo Fernández triumphs at the Auditorio Nacional with Prokofiev’s 2nd”. His recent debut in Luxembourg’s Philharmonie playing Iberia Suite was heralded as “one of the high points of Luxembourg’s musical year”. In March 2019 he wil perform Rachmaninov’s Third Concerto with the RTVE’s Symphony Orchestra[2]. Eduardo is considered by Fanfare magazine as Alicia de Larrocha's successor[3]. He has recorded for Warner (Iberia by Albéniz), Polish Institute (Chopin, Schumann), Centaur (Brahms), Naxos (Paús), and Orpheus (Scriabin ‘The complete Preludes’), receiving honours as “Disco Excepcional” (Scherzo), “Disco para la Historia” (Ritmo) and “Melómano de Oro” (Melómano). His forthcoming recordings include the complete works by Zimmermann and a new project project interpreting the piano Sonatas by Alexander Scriabin. Recordings (selection)
