Eileen Capocchi (12 March 1925 – 29 January 2019)[1] born in Jaffa, Palestine[2] was an Australian feminist activist during the 1960s and 70s. Early LifeCapocchi moved to Victoria, Australia at age 2 with her parents and brother. After her parents separated and her mother left for overseas as a child, she and her brother were left in an orphanage until she ran away. She worked multiple jobs and joined the Eureka Youth League. She married twice with 3 children.[3] [4] Career and ActivismIn 1957 she became a member of the Union of Australian Women doing volunteer work until becoming a secretary for the UAW (1964-1968), concurrently a member of the Communist Party of Australia. In 1972 she founded the Women's Liberation Aspendale to discuss the women's liberation movement, and protested on the streets of Melbourne for women's freedom.
