Ellen Posey (early 1900's - 1982) Posey was born in the state of Oklahoma to a father who was a tool driller and worked for Lone star Gas Company as a superintendent.[1][2] Posey attended and worked for the University of Oklahoma, where she completed a masters degree in the department of Geology.[2] Following in her fathers footsteps, Posey began working for an oil company called Cities Service Oil Company, which marked the beginning of her professional career in the field of geology and paleontology.[3] In the year 1937, Posey married Fred Bitgood, at which point she was forced to resign from her position with the Cities Service Oil Company.[2] After resigning from her position at Cities Service Oil Company, Posey began working in Wichita Falls, TX as a consultant and well site worker.[4] Posey was successful, knowledgeable, and well-liked which allowed her to be one of the best well site geologists in northern Texas.[3][4] References1. ^{{Cite journal|last=Kölbl-Ebert|first=M.|last2=Burek|first2=C.
