释义 |
’eSIM’ stands for Embedded-SIM which means that the SIM card is already integrated into the device, it cannot be removed from the device. It is also called an eUICC (Embedded Universal Circuit Card). They can be connected, managed and even controlled remotely. eSIM needs to be supported by the network or carrier and it should be enabled by them. The idea of eSIM is to sign a contract with the carrier and then scanning in the relevant SIM code via the smartphone and from there a person can activate all additional internet enabled products such as tablets, smart watches, and cars. GSMA
Market ScenarioThe global eSIM market is in its budding phase. With the steady evolving of IoT technology across various industries, the overall eSIM market is likely to see more growth in the coming years With the increase in the penetration of internet, coupled with the rising adoption of IoT across verticals such as automotive, consumer electronics, energy and utilities, manufacturing, retail, and transportation and logistics, is primarly driving eSIM adoption. In addition, favorable regulatory frameworks are facilitating the growth of M2M across verticals. eSIM is now a mainstream technology in the M2M application. It plays a pivotal role in this application owing to its remote programmability and high security. Advantages of eSIM* The smaller size streamlines manufacturing process for Mass volume, this is essential for consumer devices * Low production and distribution cost * There is no necessity of replacing SIM card * Low power consumption * eSIM is much more reliable and less likely to cause mechanical failure References1. ^{{Cite web|url=http://beechamresearch.com=Benefits Analysis of GSMA Embedded SIM Specification on the Mobile Enabled M2M Industry} 2. ^{{Cite web|url=http://beechamresearch.com=Benefits Analysis of GSMA Embedded SIM Specification on the Mobile Enabled M2M Industry} |
