The national emblem of the Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was adopted in 1937 by the government of the Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The emblem is identical to the emblem of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.

History

First version (as the Buryat-Mongol ASSR)

On May 30, 1923, the two autonomous regions of the Buryat-Mongol of Siberia and the Far East, was combined to form the Buryat-Mongolian ASSR.

In February 1937, the Constitution of the Buryat-Mongol ASSR was adopted. The Article 111 of the Constituion described the emblem of the republic: the coat of arms is similar to the emblem of the RSFSR, but all the inscriptions are in Russian and Buryat-Mongolian. Originally, the Buryat-Mongolian language used Latin script, and the inscriptions looked like: "РСФСР. RSFSR. БУРЯТ-МОНГОЛЬСКАЯ АССР. BURIAAD-MONGOL ASSR".

Second version

On 1939, the Buryat language switched to Cyrilic letters. The inscriptions looked like: "РСФСР. БМАССР. БУРЯТ-МОНГОЛЬСКАЯ АССР. БУРЯАД-МОНГОЛ АССР".

Third version (as the Buryat ASSR)

In 1958, the name "Mongol" was removed from the name of the republic. The inscriptions looked like: "РСФСР. БУРЯТСКАЯ АССР. БУРЯАДАЙ АССР".

Fourth version

The Constitution of the Buryat ASSR, adopted at the Extraordinary VIII session of the Supreme Council of the 9th convocation of the Buryat ASSR on May 30, 1978, enshrined the state emblem in Article 157. The emblem remained the same. The change are on the inscriptions, which changed insignificantly, and a red five-pointed star was added above the arms.

The name of the republic in Buryat was БУРЯАДАЙ АССР. The motto in Buryat is "БYХЫ ОРОНУУДАЙ ПРОЛЕТАРИНАР, НЭГЭДЭГТЫ!"
