Its software architecture is a Multikernel, which means each core runs an independent kernel scheduler and resource management services, building together a System of systems consituting a very scalable platform. This approach, using a harmonized messaging protocol, also allows Heterogeneous computing, and in particular building a single OS and software platform from multiple SoCs working together. eMCOS can be deployed in many different configurations, all ranging from one to many-core:
