Emma Tusell Sánchez is an editor, a screenwriter, and a director of Spanish films.[1]. Personal InformationBorn: 1980. Her paternal grandfather, Jordi Tusell Coll, was the first director of the production company Estela Films, which was founded on February 12, 1948 in Spain. Estela Films is still active today, making it the oldest Spanish production company. Her father, Félix Tusell Gómez, has led the production company since 1970. He also bought the company, making it property of the Tusell family. Her mother, Mercedes Sánchez Rau, was a costume designer and was awarded the Goya Prize for best costume designer for the movie Ay, Carmela!. She led the production company starting in 1991 after the death of Félix Tusell Gómez[2][3]. Currently, the production company is led by Emma Tusell’s brother, Félix Tusell Sánchez. Emma and her sister, Anna, are partners in the company[4]. Emma studied directing at the Film Institute of Madrid, and later at the School of Cinematography and Audiovisuals of the Community of Madrid (ECAM), where she specialized in Editing and graduated in 2003. After a documentary workshop in Cuba, she decided to make documentaries, too. After her studies, she worked as a film editor (on movies such as Magical Girl by Carlos Vermut, 2014; winner of the Concha de Oro and the Concha de Plata in the 62nd annual San Sebastian Festival), documentarist (working with prestigious Spanish directors such as Victor Erice, Jose Luis Guerin, and Elias Leon Siminiano), director, screenwriter and inspirer of the Musarañas Projects (based on one of her short films)[1][5] FilmographyEditor[6]
