Ernest Tewelyo.^[1],Born July 13, 1979, is a businessman, business leader, he is the founder and CEO of e-Doley Finance, an African company dedicated to the digital economy. He is recognized as one of the precursors of mobile banking in his country of origin, Gabon ^[2]^[3] . He chairs one of the Professional Branches of the Gabonese Patronage. He is ranked among the African Economic Leaders of tomorrow by the Choiseul Institute.

Biography

His father, Didier Akendengue Tewelyo is an advertising and spin doctor and, his mother, Baya Germaine is a civil servant of higher education. He was born and raised in Libreville, then continued his studies in Italy and in the Paris region of France. Promised in the future in the gem trades, he started his career at the age of 23 by trading gold before embracing gemology. Trained at the School of Gems attached to GEM-A in London in 2008, he has done several internships in companies specializing in innovative financial services that will attract more than the very closed medium of jewelery. It was there that he discovered his passion for financial inclusion and the digital revolution that he was already thinking of how to adapt and develop them in Africa^[4].

Upon his return to Africa in 2011, he created e-Doley Finance, the first fintech in Gabon, and, launches in 2013, e-Doley Cash fruit of a strategic partnership with one of the largest banks of French-speaking African bank present in 11 countries^[5]^[6].

He is, along with other young economic leaders of the continent like Acha Leke and Fred Swaniker, member of the African Leardership Network (ALN) a network of people passionate about developing leaders whose entrepreneurs will play for Africa a role crucial in creating economic opportunities for the continent by 2060, it is also a member of Africa2.0^[7], a pan-African civil society organization of young emerging leaders from Africa who promote development on the continent^[8].

Ernest Tewelyo is convinced that the digital transformation is an opportunity for Africa and its development, he advocates for Cashless Economy, intellectual property and business law on the continent.

Public activities

Citizen Entrepreneur

2017, he is elected Chairman of the professional branch of financial institutions (non-banks) of the Gabonese Employers' Confederation (CPG) main interlocutor of the government.^[9].

2015, he becomes a member of the African Leadership Network (ALN) in Mauritius^[10]

Promoter of entrepreneurship

Desiring to transmit the StartUp spirit to young people and to show his civic commitment, he introduced the BMCE Bank in Gabon, in order to publicize the African Entrepreneurship Award, which is a Pan-African Award that rewards projects with a strong social and sustainable impact^[11]^[12].

Regularly invited during forums and grand masses dedicated to entrepreneurship, technologies to the digital economy, or, to the development of Africa, he was invited by the Tunisian government in 2017 to share his experience at SITIC Africa in Tunis and , in 2015 by President Ali Bongo Ondimba and Richard Attias at the New York Forum to share his expertise on the digital revolution in Libreville^[13]^[14].

Awards and distinctions

He won, among other things, in 2016, the Pitch For Africa Award at the HubAfrica held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in Casablanca, Morocco, in 2015, the StartUp Africa Competition Prize at the Annual Symposium of the Africa2.0 leadership in the presence of President Joaquim Chissano in Maputo, Mozambique, and, in 2014, the Grand Prix of Excellence of President Ali Bongo Ondimba's in Libreville, Gabon^[15]^[16]^[17].

He is ranked among the African Economic Leaders of tomorrow by the Choiseul Institute and appears in the Choiseul 100 Africa 2018^[18]^[19].
