It was founded in Sweden in the early 1970’s by the former company owner RFSU..[1] HistoryEtac has its origin in the social efforts of Elise Ottesen-Jensen, founder of RFSU (Etac’s former company owner) in 1933. To finance their educational mission, RFSU started to sell a few technical aids.[2] In the early 1970's this gave birth to the idea of developing own products under the name RFSU Rehab.[3] Etac is the inventing company of Nova, the world's first four wheeled walker with swivelling front casters[4] and Cross, the first multi-functional cross folding manual wheelchair[5] Throughout the years, the company has broadened the portfolio through acquisitions of companies within the rehab industry. The product brands within Etac Group are Convaid, Etac, Immedia, Molift, R82 and Star. [1] Etac has received design awards, e.g. Reddot, Excellent Swedish Design, Good Design Award, Award for Design Excellence. The company has also been acknowledged for its innovative and ergonomic design of products that enhance activity.[6][7][8][9][10] Since 2011 Etac has been fully owned by Swedish Nordstiernan, a family controlled unlisted investment company.[11] ProductsConvaidWheelchairs for children with special needs.
