ezemonye ezekiel-amadi is a Nigerian politician who served as the Commissioner for Lands/Survey Rivers State, under the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi administration.

Early life And Education

ezemony ezekiel-amadi fondly called #Empowerment Machine on account of his benevolent disposition, Born as ezemonye nkasiobi amadi until 1986 when he took ezekiel-amadi as family name following the death of his father Ezekiel Amadi in 1985.

Given that both of his parents were Teachers, ezemonye started school early in his native Community at St. Stephen’s State School 1, Omerelu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State from where he proceeded to the Seventh Day Adventist School, Elele also in Ikwerre Local Government Area.

Following the transfer of his mother, ezemonye, together with his siblings then moved to Ahoada where they continued their education at the St Paul’s School 1, Ahoada before finally completing his primary education at the St. Andrew’s State School 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt where he sat for the First School Leaving Certificate Examination in 1975.

In September of the same year, he passed the National Common Entrance Examination and got admitted into the Federal Government College, Enugu where he wrote his West African School Certificate Examination and came away with Division 1.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 1986 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in March 1988 having graduated from the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos in December 1987.

Between 1987 – after his Bachelor of Laws [B.L.] training at the Law School Lagos – and 1988, he served as a Youth Corp member as Legal Officer in the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, Ilupeju, Lagos.

He is also called #EzemsBaba by his teeming admirers and supporters and was commissioned as a titled Chief of his Community in December 2009 as the EZE IWHUE 1 OF OMERELU. He is widely traveled locally and internationally and a lover of soccer.

He is married to Glory Ezems-Amadi [Ph.D] and a very proud father of four very cute children. He loves to write his name in lower case.

Early Political Career

Before his foray into politics in 1992, he was in very active private legal practice that kick started in Lagos and then took him to Jos and finally to Port Harcourt in 1991.

Prior to his appointment into the Rivers State Executive Council in April 2008, he had served as Special Assistant on Legal Matters in the Office of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja between June 2003 and May 2007; Secretary, African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption [APNAC] Nigeria 2005 – 2007; Legal Adviser, Ikwerre Local Government Council 1999 – 2001; State Legal Adviser, Democratic Party of Nigeria [DPN] 1996 – 1997; Chairman, National Republican Convention Ikwerre Local Government Chapter 1993.

He was a member of the Rivers State Executive Council from 2008 to 2015 first as Commissioner for Energy/Natural Resources and later, Commissioner for Lands/Survey and a vibrant member of the Board of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority from July 2009 to May 2015.

After rising through the ranks, he got elected as the 2006 National President of Junior Chamber International [JCI] Nigeria – a position through which he became Nigeria’s official Observer in New York, at the 8th Session of the United Nations Adhoc Committee for the International Convention on the Rights and Privileges of Persons with disabilities.

He is currently the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency in the 2019 House of Representatives election.
