He is affiliated with scenario writer association Kikakuya (企画屋).[2] BiographyIn his youth, Maruto often read the novels of Seishi Yokomizo and also watched the film and television drama adaptations of his works. As a university student Maruto became a fan of Shinichi Hoshi and Takashi Atouda. He played the eroge written by Masato Hiruta, and has, since entering the same industry, named Hiruta as a person he respects. Before his official debut as a writer, Maruto participated at Comiket in 2001 where he distributed a self-penned doujinshi of eroge criticism. Despite printing one hundred copies, he sold less than fifty.[3] Following his official writing debut, he again participated, at summer comiket 2006 where he distributed an original light novel as part of a doujin circle. As a fan of the scenario writer Katsunori Kobayashi, Maruto was able to become personally acquainted with him by participating in the fan community for the visual novel Kuon no Kizuna which Kobayashi participated in the development of. This led to Kobayashi inviting Maruto to the scenario writer association Kikakuya.[4] Maruto debuted as an eroge scenario writer upon the release of Ripple Blue Seal e Youkoso (Ripple~ブルーシールへようこそっ~). He would later write the eroge Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku o (この青空に約束を―) which, among other awards, won first prize at the Bishoujo Game Awards (美少女ゲームアワード) in 2006. Other eroge he authored including Parfait ~Chocolat Second Brew~ (パルフェ ~ショコラ second brew~), Sekai de Ichiban NG na Koi (世界でいちばんNGな恋), and White Album 2 have since received ports to home consoles and all-ages versions. In 2012 Amazon Japan conducted a poll for which users would vote for the eroge they considered to have the best scenario released 2010-2012; White Album 2 took first place.[5] Since 2012 Maruto has shifted from the eroge industry to writing light novels and anime scripts. His debut light novel series Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend has, as of March 2017, sold over 2.5 million copies.[6] WorksEroge
