History

Laura Schubert and Lillian Tung are childhood friends, and met in 7th grade of junior high through gymnastics.[8] Schubert left her job as a management consultant at Bain in 2014 to develop Fur, and tapped Tung, who was working at L'Oreal in global marketing, to join her.[9] The company launched in 2016 as a skin and haircare line specializing in products safe enough for sensitive areas, specifically pubic hair and skin.[10] They developed four products that are "beneficial for the hairless, body hair groomers and everywhere in between."[11] Their signature, Fur Oil, is dermatologically and gynecologically tested, and suitable for everyday use.[12] In March 2017, Emma Watson revealed herself to be a fan, stating that she uses Fur Oil "anywhere from the ends of my hair to my eyebrows to my pubic hair. It’s an amazing all-purpose product."[13] Following that, Google searches for "Fur Oil" increased by 600%, site traffic when up by 500%, and over 100 new retailers stocked Fur products.[8]

Retailers

Fur Oil was first made available in U.K. retailer [https://www.contentbeautywellbeing.com/collections/fur Content Beauty] in 2016, announced by British Vogue.[14] As of 2019, Fur products will be sold in Ulta Beauty, both online and in 347 stores nationwide, as well as Net-a-Porter online.[5]

Viceland Episode

Fur was recently featured on Viceland's new series "HUSTLE" in their fifth episode entitled "Taboo Down There." The unscripted series is executive produced by Alicia Keys and Marcus Samuelsson and revolves around the fates of New York startup businesses.[15] In the episode, host John Henry "works with the founders of Fur to help them get the business world to take their body care products seriously."[16]
