The Future Insight Prize^[1]^[2] is an annually awarded research prize created and launched by the chemical and pharmaceutical company Merck KGaA at the occasion of its 350^th anniversary.

The prize is awarded to researchers whose efforts have helped address global challenges in the areas of health, nutrition, and energy.

Starting in 2019, the Future Insight Prize will be given out by Merck KGaA annually for the next 35 years, first in the field of pandemic preparedness then in other areas. In addition, each winner receives 1,000,000 Eur.^[3]

2019: pandemic protection (health)

2020: multi drug resistance (health)

2021: food generator (nutrition)

2022: CO₂ conversion (energy)
