Gedi Duroe was a New Wave/Punk band formed in 1979 in Houston, Texas. Founding members Scott Szabo (vocals/keyboards) and Frederick Hall (guitar/bass) attended the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts. While sharing a rehearsal studio with another local Houston band (The Leopards) they met Bryan Weisberg (guitar and vocals) and Sam Mandelstein (drummer) and soon joined forces.

They began playing at various local venues, including The Island (formerly Rock Island), Joe Star's Omni, and Fitzgerald's. Their first single (Killer Fishsticks) was recorded at Rivendell Sound Studios in Pasadena, Texas and pressed onto 7" vinyl (45rpm). It was produced and distributed by AMO Productions in limited numbers.[1]

During this time, the band consisted of Bryan Weisberg (guitar/bass/vocals), Scott Szabo (keyboard/vocals), Frederick Hall (guitar/bass), Sam Mandelstein (drums).
