Having graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Herbert H Lehman College, CUNY, with Departmental Honors in Psychology and Anthropology, he pursued his interest in people by entering the death care industry. After working for Service Corporation International for almost a decade, during which time he was named Manager of the Year for his exemplary work at Gold Coast Crematory, he also served on the Board of Directors for CANA, the Cremation Association of North America. During that time, Mr Mena wrote several articles for The Cremationist Magazine. In 2010, Mr Mena, along with his business partner, David Krohn, opened Everglades Crematorium and Guiding Light Cremations. For the next ten years, the business flourished and still provides cremation services for over forty funeral homes in the tri-counties of Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. In addition, Mr Mena is responsible for securing the exclusive contract with the Broward County Medical Examiner’s ICP, or Indigent Cremation Program. Essentially, Guiding Light performs all the Broward County cremations for indigents. During the past three years, Mr Mena has also written and published two non-fiction books, FROM THE NECK UP and DEATH OF HUMANITY. His interest and commitment is to have twelve books published during the upcoming years. |
