GeneralGET Protocol is a digital ticketing backend solution, designed to end the pressing issues of ticket fraud and scalping. The protocol does so by issuing 'smart tickets', which grant event organizers control over the primary and secondary ticketing market. All transactions and changes in ownership and the proporties of tickets are validated and registered with blockchain technology. ApplicationThe first ticketing company to make use of the Protocol is GUTS Tickets, who have initially applied it to the Dutch theater and comedy markets. Several established Dutch artists such as Jochem Myjer, Youp van 't Hek and Guus Meeuwis are ambassadors and investors in GUTS Tickets. There has been substantial attention in the Dutch media[1][2][3][4][5][6] for shows sold by GUTS Tickets and the usage of GET Protocol. GUTS Tickets is also ticketing besides Ticketmaster for the 2019 stadium show of French artist ZAZ. GET tokenThe protocol runs on a type of fuel, commonly referred to as 'GET'[7], which is a tradable cryptocurrency. Ticketing companies and event organizers using the protocol require this GET in order to make use of the protocol. This makes GET a utility token, meaning that it serves a specific purpose within the protocol. OriginThe protocol was initiated by GET Protocol Foundation, which was founded in 2017 in Amsterdam. Founding partners are Maarten Bloemers, Tom Roetgering, Ivo van der Wijk and Frans Twisk. As of September 2018, the company consists of 17 team members.
