It was invented in Montreal around mid-2018 by someone who wanted to make a Gin & Tonic but had nothing other than Ginger Ale in his fridge. HistoryThe original ingredients used for the very first Gin-gin were Ungava gin [1] and Schweppes Dark Ginger Ale [2]. Although any other brand of Gin and Ginger Ale can be used, it just won't taste like the original, nicknamed "Gin-gin D". Why the letter "D"? This is still a mystery although some people like to think that it's related to the first letter of the individual who invented it... Fun fact: The drink had no name for the first few weeks of it's existence. One night during a party where some people were introduced to the unusual mix, they asked what was the drink's name. Someone spontaneously replied : "Gin and Ginger Ale? This should probably be called a Gin-gin!". The name stuck to the drink ever since.
