Giovanni Campsi or Ivan Campsi (Croatian: Ivana Campsija) (Born c. 1707, Shkoder - Died February 16, 1772, Zadar) was an Albanian[1][2][3][4][5][6] priest and canon[7] of Zadar. Campsi was born in Shkoder and through out his life he is mentioned as chaplain in the personal pedestrian satire of the maggiore di batagglia Petra Corponesa in 1727. Campsi served in the Venetian army[8] but his time was short as he was quickly sent to the Illyrian College of Loreto where he obtained the title of Doctor of Theology. Through out his life Campsi was a friend of Vicko Zmajević. Campsi is mentioned in the inventory of Kotors bishop Hijacint Zanobetti (1718-1742). Campsi died of old age in Zadar after having served for 40 years. He is a venerated figure in Croatian history[9].
