GOAT Comedy is a British comedy troupe, featuring comedians James Ellis, Ben Robson (South Coast Comedian of the Year 2018 Runner-up), Erica Smith and Martin Wratten (Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2018 nominee[1], SCCOTY 2017 Winner[2], Hastings Newcomer 2017 Winner[2].) They are responsible for the immersive Standup and Sketch based comedy event of the same name in Brighton, UK. The night developed a strong cult following, and went on to win the Chortle award for "Best Club Night in the South 2018"[3]. Unlike most comedy clubs, the night is run in seasons, set within a new 'world' every 6-7 months, and feature sketches written specifically for the show. These are written by the same people who run the night. Comedian Heather Minor was another of the founding members of the group, but left at the end of season 1. Past acts to have performed include Joe Wilkinson, John Kearns, Spencer Jones, David Earle (Brian Gittins), Rosie Jones, Dan Skinner (Angelos Epithemiou), Matt Ewins, Ian Smith, Geins Family Giftshop, Adam Hess, Elf Lyons, Richard Gadd and Mark Silcox. Season 1: The IslandSeason one kicks off on the fictional "Goat Island". Once a thriving industrial land, now desolate due to the collapse of the hat strap industry. Can Martin the Mayor's new comedy night in the village hall be just what is needed to entice visitors onto the ferry and over to Goat Island?
Season 2: The CruiseSeason 2 is set aboard the fictional "Goat Cruises" liner as we join the crew in the entertainments lounge during their well reviewed comedy extravaganza. But the difficulties start when the boat accidentally sets sail with the majority of the crew! With only the entertainments manager, the health and safety officer, the HR assistant and an ice cream man left on board to share out the workload, things do not sail smoothly. Will this end in disaster? Yes.
Season 3: The JungleWe re-join the gang for Season 3 deep in the "Goat Jungle", where a team of unlikely people have been posted in an unwise PR stunt, to welcome visitors to see their conservation efforts up close and personal. We join the jungle crew on the monthly comedy night, devised to raise conservation funds. But will people find out they do not know what they are doing?
Season 4: The ProhibitionSeason 4 takes us back in time to the 1920s prohibition. Goat City. In a world where comedy has been made illegal. The Goat Comedy crew have started up an illegal "Joke Easy" where people can come and have a laugh away from the ever more intrusive Goat City Police Department. What could possibly go wrong?
