Greg Herman is an American fashion designer from Los Angeles.

Herman graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in anthropology, but struggled to find employment. He started a designer handbag business in 1997, using $4,000 capital along with several credit cards, and moved to New York to start production. Initially, Herman stopped at showrooms simply to attract interest.[1] In 1998, he introduced a sophisticated range of handbags retailing from $120 to $135.[1] He was an early adopter of using the Internet to attract sales, by partnering with online fashion retailer Girlshop.[2] By 2000, sales had topped $3 million.[3] His designs quickly became popular and they were purchased by celebrities including Tia Carrere, Calista Flockhart and Christina Applegate.[4]
