Alan’s knows how to combine minimalism and classicism and « proves that the notion "less is more" is anything but simple [12], With elegance and refinment, the way how he defines space is very clean [13]. He knows how to link all the elements together to make only one : he emphasises pure and strong lines, historical references, the light, the furniture pieces, palette colours and textured materials as the brushed woods, the natural marbles, the natural linens, soft leathers, silks, wools [14][15][16] Giving birth to universes of serenity, calmness, and emotion, Alans ‘s work is described as being poetic[17] Critical ReceptionBritish Vogue described Guillaume Alan as having a style that is luxurious, serene and poetic, and being able to seamlessly interlink architectural concept, interior design and furniture design in his work, and creating serene and harmonic atmospheres. Alan’s ability to evoke an emotional response in his work, was noted in the Architectural Digest’s feature titled "Go inside a chic apartment with an otherworldly aura", in which Cara Gibbs describes Alan as having the confidence to opt for simplicity, which displays subtle alchemy between strict, angular architectural lines and bold material textures. This unique style of using pure lines and fusing architecture and furniture as if they were one commodity, were also highlighted by Gala Mora in AD Espana’s "Paris en Blanco y Negro", who described Guillaume Alan as rewriting the tradition of French classicism. In her "Paris apartment by Guillaume Alan” feature in Est Living, Melia Rayner spoke of the designer’s penchant for placing luxury into minimalist elements, by stripping elements back to create feelings of calm and serenity, which she describes as two luxuries that are sorely lacking in our overstimulated lives. Writing in the The Daily Telegraph in a feature titled the "French interior designer Guillaume Alan: It's all about discovery”, Helen Chislett wrote that the “love of light” is key to Alan’s “meticulous and refined design ethos."
