Over the years God has been faithful to me and I can tell you today that I do not need anything again, in-fact God has over blessed me and to show gratitude I want to serve my people of Kogi East at Senate. Being a Governor… no I’m not interested, I found out that being a Governor you cannot do much because you are saddled with too much responsibility"[1] From time immemorial, women that make things happen are very few. In a time like this when professionalism and merit are thrown to the bin, for how long are we going to stand aloof waiting for miracle or manner to fall from heaven? Can we for the sake of reason, for the sake of development of our land and people allow a woman to be saddled with representing us; considering the antecedence of our men in the past and present who represented us one way or the other. Representing the people in any capacity in a democratic dispensation like ours comes with a lot of challenges especially in our country where political intrigues, betrayals and other manoeuvres are the order of the day. A place like the senate is meant for people who are vocal, connected, armed with contacts and ability to lobby for dividend of democracy for those who sent them there and should not be a place for bench warmers and dumb characters. Barr. Halima I. Alfa, in any form had never failed to represent her people well, she is on ground and continues to be relevant in the political sphere of the country, and she should be regarded as one of our heroine.
