History

Story

Hauriendum's story was created in 2018 by Rick Hagarty, Matthew Johnson, and Ray Redondo, the same people creating Taking Back Freedom Nation, an unrelated animated story. However, the story didn't start there.

Rick and Ray started their journey of making stories of playing abnormal games with a three-video series "playing" Polybius, another fictional game, going along the same storyline as Angry Video Game Nerd's version. This happened in early 2018[1]. The end result wasn't as good as they expected, and the series wasn't very well received, though some appreciated the sub-par acting more than others. The next school year, the two decided to do another game, but, to avoid copying anyone, they created their own based on other stories such as Welcome to the Jungle and Sword Art Online. The result was Hauriendum.

Game

Hauriendum was created in 1981 by USND, which is believed to be a hidden branch of the US Army tasked with combat simulations. They are also believed to be connected to the company Sinneslöschen, creators of Polybius, another game known to have weird effects on people. The game became popular, and, eventually, after a big content and hardware update, people could actually enter the game.

Eventually, people couldn't come out. The mechanism for escape was a button in a very central location of camp. It was used to get out in case of injury or after a battle. During one such battle, a person was hit with a virtual sticky grenade as they went down to hit the button. The person made it out alive, but the button was destroyed entirely, leaving only traces of the wiring that connected it to the central support building.

In 2019, Rick Hagarty and Ray Redondo, while making a video series on paranormal games, ventured into Hauriendum. There was only one soldier left, and his name was Whiman. He was one of the soldiers in the platoon that destroyed the button. As they found out later, Whiman has killed everyone else who came in, and he also tried to kill Rick and Ray. However, a replacement for the button was made that ejected everyone from the game, so the three left the game safely.
