Hermann Roland Schichl (born 18 April 1968 in Vienna, Austria) is an Austrian mathematician at the faculty of mathematics of the University of Vienna. He received his doctoral degree sub auspiciis Praesidentis rei publicae at the University of Vienna in 1997 under Peter Michor with the dissertation On the existence of slice theorems for moduli spaces on fiber bundles.[1] Hermann Schichl worked at Bell Labs at Lucent before becoming associate professor at the University of Vienna. His research areas are global optimization and nonsmooth optimization.
