Later this "Yabashi" family was compelled to moved out of the homeland because Ikutaro became a supporter of the doctrine of restoring the emperor. At the age of 11, Ikutaro Yabashi became Ikutaro Tokoro, which means that Ikutaro became the adopted son of the Tokoros, family of physician, which was also compelled to move out of the homeland for the very same reason. At the age of 23, Ikutaro who wanted to study Western medicine entered into Tekijuku. He had the reputation as a brilliant student and enjoyed the companionship of Fukuzawa Yukichi, Ōmura Masujirō and so on. On May 3, 2015 Sankei News reported that Ikutaro became the head of Tekijuku like Fukuzawa Yukichi or Ōmura Masujirō[29]. He became the head of the hospital of the Kyoto Residence of Chōshū Domain by the recommendation of Katsura Kogorō (Kido Takayoshi). In 1864, by putting about 50 stiches of tatami needle in the wounds on the whole body without anesthesia because of emergency during the domestic war time, Ikutaro who was then in hiding from the pursuit of Tokugawa shogunate with Prince Sanjō Sanetomi and rushed to Shida Bunta (Marquis Inoue Kaoru) who was severely wounded by the attack of the assassins, received a near-fatal injury and had been appealing to Inoue's elder brother for beheading because of the unbearable pain saved Inoue's life. The story that Inoue's mother holding bloody Inoue then dissuaded the elder son from beheading was introduced in the National Japanese text book of the 5th period as the power of mother. Ikutaro became staff officer of Takasugi Shinsaku but died of illness at the age of 28. Tokoro Ikutaro was awarded the court rank of Ju shi-i (Junior Fourth Rank) by Ikutaro's friends, Inoue Kaoru, Shinagawa Yajirō and so on. Ikutaro was also awarded by the erection of monument with the support of Marquis Inoue Saburō, grandson of Inoue Kaoru at the homeland of the Tokoros in Ono Town, Gifu Prefecture. Inoue Kaoru restored the extinct family, the Tokoros, by bringing up Ikutaro's nephew from the Yabashis which is Ikutaro's birthplace, Minokichi Yabashi, in Inoue's residence of Toriizaka as the successor of the Tokoros. )[30][31][32][33][34][35]
