Hikaru Matsumura（松村 光) is a Japanese fashion and product designer.
Profile Hikaru Matsumura was born in Tokyo in 1964. After graduating from Musashino Art University and then ECSCP, he joined Miyake Design Studio in 1993. While in charge of accessory design for ISSEY MIYAKE and PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE, he produced the BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE series. Meanwhile, he launched his own design studio, HIKARU MATSUMURA DESIGN INC, and produced the bag brand HIKARU MATSUMURA THE UNIQUE-BAG. Since 2015 he works as a designer for the men’s bag brand TOMOE and in 2019 he launched life product brand 52 BY HIKARUMATSUMURA located in the Tokyo flag ship store.
Career - 1993：Joined to CITE INTERNATIONAL DES ARTS in Paris.
- 1993：Joined to UNE AURE COUTURE in Paris.
- 1993: Started to work at ISSEY MIYAKE INC.
- 1998: Joined to the launch “Good goods” as Issey Miyake Interior brand.
- 2005: HIKARU MATSUMURA DESIGN INC was established.
- 2006：Produced “HIKARU MATSUMURA THE UNIQUE-BAG” and held the exhibition twice a year.
- 2008 HIKARU MATSUMURA THE UNIQUE-BAG was selected as one of the top 50 bags that changed the world.
- 2008 :Assigned as a creative director of “BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE” which was originally come from "BILBAO" bag.
- 2010: “BILBAO” bag was on the front page of NY Moma design store catalogue.
- 2013: "BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE" won special awards at Mainichi Fashion Grand prix.
- 2015: Assigned as a designer for a bag brand "TOMOE".
- 2016: Presented "GETA RUNNER" at the exhibition at Ifs FUTURE LABORATORY.
- 2016: Presented a Japanese traditional sweet bean paste jelly "FUTURE YOKAN" at ifs FUTURE LABORATORY.
- 2017: Assigned as a creative director at 52DESIGN.,LTD.
- 2019：Launched life product brand “52 BY HIKARUMATSUMURA” at located in the Tokyo flag ship store “52 D.L.STORE”
