释义 |
The phrase "Yeet," was first popularised in an online viral video on the now closed website, Vine. In the video a young high school girl, called Terry by someone off camera, threw an empty drink can across a crowded hallway and said, "This b*tch empty, YEET!" The original curator of this particular vine is unknown. In a hiphop video called, "Yeet Dance" It shows how to dance a dance named "Yeet", where the man in the tutorial, Marquis Trill, teaches viewers how to do the yeet dance that originated from the “Ya yeet” vine. The original creator was Lil' Meatball, who uploaded his vine where he dances the "Yeet Dance" whilst saying “Ya. Ya, ya, Yeet, Ya." repeatedly in early April 2014. The video became immensely popular on Vine and lead to a record made with Meaty Records, created by himself, Lil' Meatball. In a hiphop video called, "Yeet Dance" It shows how to dance a dance named "Yeet", where the man in the tutorial, Marquis Trill, teaches viewers how to do the yeet dance that originated from the “Ya yeet” vine. Following the use of "yeet" while throwing a can, the term has been adopted as a phrase to shout when launching anything. It has been compared to shouting "Kobe" for accuracy when throwing; with "yeet" being used for more powerful throws among young people around the world. This has been said on many online forums such as, Reddit, Tumblr and instagram. Within the online meme community, "yeet" has become a very popular and well known meme, with memesters (meme enthusiasts), and also with those unfamiliar with memes. If you were to use the word "yeet", many would understand whether or not they are a memester, as it has become so well known. In its early days it was depicted with only throwing objects as few recognised the true origin from the dance, memes involved something in the image being throw, as in the vine that popularised “yeet” (as said above). They were often depicted with something in the image being throw, as in the vine. As with many memes, "yeet" has evolved several times. It is now incorporated into longer phrases such as "yeet yeet, beat your meat", and "yeetus that foetus". The latter still involves throwing, forming an attempt at a comedic term for getting an abortion. People who use these phrases tend to describe themselves as "edgy" and are stereotypically in their teens. These phrases developed from meme culture and the memesters who create the memes on Reddit and Tumblr. Another way yeet is used nowadays (February 2019) is with a hand gesture of a whip. This combination of saying “Yeet” and whipping is always used ironically and can be used in many different situations, ranging from a professional climate to a group of friends; The uses always creates humour and releases tension.
