释义 |
The Hogan Residence is a modernist-styled post & beam home designed by architect Douglas Rucker in Laurel Canyon, an area of the Hollywood Hills section of Los Angeles, California. In January of 1964, Douglas Rucker designed the residence for Jack Hogan, a television actor whose career extended from the mid-1950s through the early 1990s. Appearing in dozens of television series and movies, Hogan is perhaps best known for his recurring role in the 1960s television war-drama Combat!. In Doug’s memoir Growing Edge, he refers to a “Mystery House” he designed in “a hilly neighborhood on the edge of a looping road,” for a working actor in the mid-1960s.[1] This “Mystery House” is likely the residence on Brier Road, as Rucker describes both the neighborhood as being near Beverly Hills and his client as an actor in a TV show about World War II. The residence is one of the few, if not the only, Rucker designed buildings in the City of Los Angeles. In 2018, the home received the Historical Cultural Monument designation (HCM 1152) from the City of Los Angeles. References[1] Rucker, Growing Edge, 193 |
