{{Infobox film awards Holebikort is a contest for short films with an LGBT theme. It is organised by the {{ill|Holebifilmfestival|nl}} in Belgium. HistoryIn 2010, a short film contest was organized to celebrate the tenth edition of Holebifilmfestival. The goal of this contest was to incite talented film makers worldwide to reflect upon the theme of sexual orientation and gender identity. [1][2] This contest was the main subject during the opening show of the film festival, which alternated between the nominated short films and interviews with Belgian celebrities. The audience voted to elect the winner of the competition, a concept that is still used by the contest today.[3] Over the following years the contest was organized each time, with a gradually increasing number of submitted films. OrganizationHolebifilmfestival and therefore Holebikort is organized by a team of volunteers.[4] Financially, the festival depends mostly on government grants and irregular support of corporate sponsors. Because of this the awarded financial amount can differ between editions. Participating short films are first submitted to a preselection by collaborators of the contest. A selection of the best films is presented to a professional jury, who make a final selection (typically 3 to 5 films, dependent on the total duration). This selection is screened during the opening night of the Holebifilmfestival.
