HistoryOriginally based in Balham, London, Hoopla Impro was founded in January 2006 by Steve Roe and Edgar Fernando.[1][2] They now have locations in London Bridge, Liverpool Street, and King's Cross, and are one of the major improv companies in the UK.[3] Hoopla teach courses in all forms of improv, including Short-Form, Long-Form and Musical, as well as clown, sketch and stand up courses.[4] Improv TheatreHoopla runs the UK's first improv theatre, at [https://www.themiller.co.uk/ The Miller] in London Bridge. Launched in 2010, improv shows run Wednesdays to Saturdays, and Stand Up nights were recently launched on Mondays.[5] Hoopla Impro was selected as the improv choice for Londonist's "Top 10 Themed Comedy Nights". Shows also include student end-of-course showcases.[6] Improv MarathonHoopla launched their first annual Improv Marathon in 2017. It took place from 7pm on Friday 20th October to Sunday 22nd October.[7] The marathon was inspired by New York City's Del Close Marathon and was billed as "the biggest gathering of improv performers and groups the UK has ever seen". It raised awareness of Team Margot, a bone marrow/stem cell charity.[8] The 2017 marathon featured performances from performers such as Ruth Bratt (People Just Do Nothing) and Dylan Emery (Grand Theft Impro).[9] The 2018 Marathon took place from 7pm 28th October to 11pm 29th October.
